April Showers

Having just read FTDParish's newest story, it brings to mind a concept that has been brought up again and again in my life. That concept is that a god once worshipped never dies as long as someone still worships HIR. (If you don't under stand the HIR, see RA Wilson in various works). Basically implying that as long as a diety has a worshiper, than that diety has existence. When the modern day 'God' came along, that would have driven many pre-existing dieties to the brink (if not beyond) of non-existence. However, their basic archetypes still exist in our unconscience. Thus with belief, they could possibly be resurrected (a la Jesus?) Yeah, I'm probably condemned to Hell for thinking such, but if God can't accept the way SHe planned my thought patterns to manifest, then SHe hasn't planned the Universe nearly as well as HIR followers would have you think.

Exactly my point Tuck, well done sir.

This story idea derived from a conversation I had with a friend at the end of a long night of bourbon drinkin and girlie chasin in the early 90's.

The conversation began when said friend o' mine asked if I belived in God.

At the time I was still struggling with the standard christian dogma I was raised with.

I remember being shocked a coupla years later even when a man I was working for at the time(at a ski lodge) suggested that Jesus uttered a few vowell sounds, created a fog via said mumbling and walked off the back of the hill rather than the christian version which holds he ascended to heaven outta the fog(bossman was/is? a roscecrucian, didn't even know what that was then)). When I heard that, my first thought was, "He's goin to hell."

So a coulpa years earlier, I'm obviously still strugglin with my personal take on the supernatural aspects of religious dogma. But still, at that time, before I really began to question the BOOK, I had already come to the following conclusion regarding the God question.

I answered him by saying that I didn't belive in an old dude, vengeful, wrathful and whatnot, sittin up on high dealing out justice, retribution and what not. What I did think, was that since so many people believed in the christian version of God, that he did exist in that he influenced so many peoples daily decision making. Whether they are making those decisions based on their love of God or their fear of hell is a whole nuther story.

But that was the beginning of my thought process that brought me eventually to this story and message.

I think Tuck does have a point. If you and enough people like you, make daily decisions about how to live your life based on the dogma that a pink elephant stands to judge you when you die, then that pink elephant exists because you're gonna try to please said effeminate pachiderm.

So if the Mother Goddess religions make a comeback because of all the warrin' that this here patriarchal society has propogated, then said Mother Goddess will and I'm sure still does exsist, based on the worshippers I'm sure she still has now.

And Finn....you're the most eloquent ever. a whole comment consisting of "yup". That's gonna elecit some discussion. You da man Finn.......sorry, had to say it. He's all the time telling us to provoke discussion.
